The year 2024 marks a significant milestone for Global Scholars. Five years ago, thanks to the generous support of friends like you, Global Scholars launched the Society of Christian Scholars. If you’ve been following our newsletters for a while, you’ve probably heard us talk about equipping Christian scholars from countries all over the world through the Society of Christian Scholars. For most of our history, Global Scholars focused on placing Christian professors from the United States in public universities worldwide. We are still a sending agency for these professors who continue to serve with us. However, in 2019, with the founding of the Society of Christian Scholars, we took a major step forward in equipping Christian professors worldwide.

The Society provides training and community for indigenous Christian academics serving in secular university settings all over the world. These believers do not need the back-end office support of a traditional missions agency. But they do need help in integrating their faith with their academic work. They need to connect with peers around the world as they explore how to share Christ with students and colleagues. You help to provide this and much more through your involvement with Global Scholars.

Working with Christian professors around the world who are already in positions of influence in their own nations has dramatically expanded your impact. In 2020, we were working with 404 professors. During the past ministry year, through your support, we equipped nearly 1,200 Christian professors to better influence their students, colleagues, and academic disciplines for Christ.

Five years after launching the Society of Christian Scholars, I am filled with gratitude for what God has done through your partnership. And I believe the best is yet to come. You can learn more about how we hope to see the Society of Christian Scholars grow over the next three years at https://global-scholars.org/deepen-and-grow-2026/.

Thank you for equipping Christian professors to be salt and light. You are making a difference!

For Christ and the university,

Stan

Listen to the March episode of the College Faith podcast, A Guide to Majoring in the Biological Sciences. My guest is Jeff Hardin, Ph.D., professor and former chair of the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Wisconsin. He holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the International School of Theology. In addition to his scholarly work in cell biology, Jeff has thought much about the intersection of faith and science and regularly addresses these topics in public forums.

This episode of the Thinking Christianly podcast is the third in a series about Free Will, Compatibilism, and Determinism. JP Moreland and I delve deeper into these concepts, extending our discussion beyond theological topics to many other important issues.
