I want to introduce you to Dr. Akin, a Christian professor in Africa. He teaches in a place with tension between Christians and Muslims. But even with these challenges, God is using Dr. Akin—and others like him—to share His love at the university.

Dr. Akin is part of a peace and conflict studies program at his school. Some of his colleagues don’t share his faith, but he has had chances to show them how biblical principles are the foundation of real, lasting peace.

From the start of his time at the university, Dr. Akin has led a group of Christian professors. They meet often to pray, encourage each other, and grow in their faith. He reminds them that they are not in their positions of influence by accident—God has placed them there for a reason.

Dr. Akin puts it this way:

When we are in community as scholars in the university, we will have more influence. You won’t have the kind of impact you want as individuals. If you put pieces of firewood together, it creates a strong fire, but if you separate the pieces, the fire dies out.

Dr. Akin is also making a difference in government. He meets each week with the governor of his province—a friend he once encouraged to go into politics. They pray together, talk about important issues, and seek God’s wisdom.

Your support makes this kind of impact possible. When Christian scholars are connected, they can do so much more for God’s kingdom. Through the Society of Christian Scholars, you are helping to build a strong Christian community that is changing universities—and influencing nations worldwide—for Christ.

Dr. Akin shares this reminder:

Our first calling is to Jesus Christ—to follow Him and become more like Him. In Jesus are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3).

Thank you for helping Christian professors in Africa and beyond share Christ in their universities and communities. Your generosity is making a difference!

For Christ and the university,

Stan
