Lasting Change 2023

July 2023 Update: Thanks to your generosity, we exceeded these goals. Exciting things are in store for our next strategic plan over the next three years. Learn more at https://global-scholars.org/deepen-and-grow-2026/

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." (Psalm 19:1)

We love the university. It serves a holy purpose: discovering and disseminating knowledge for the wisdom of all. We believe it is one of the most essential institutions in a country and can be a source of great truth, goodness, and beauty. God has often used the university to bring revival to a nation.

But universities have not always lived up to these lofty ideals, and can contribute more to secularism and other ideologies than Christ-honoring ends. Like all else in God’s wonderful yet fallen creation, universities have great potential for good, yet need redemption.

We believe Christian professors are called by God to have a redemptive influence in higher education. Without their presence, higher education cannot fulfill its enormous potential to bring truth, goodness, and beauty to society.

"The LORD has done great things for us; we are filled with joy." (Psalm 126:3)

God has done great things through the hundreds of Christian professors served by Global Scholars since 1988. They are united in their calling to influence the people and ideas of higher education with the grace, truth, and peace of Christ. Opportunities abound for them to have a redemptive influence. Global Scholars professors leave an indelible mark on their students, colleagues, universities, and academic disciplines, a mark that is hard to erase. As one former Global Scholars professor in Ukraine said, “I am not the future of Ukraine. But my students are. They will make the difference for the future of this nation.”

God has also opened doors for unprecedented influence beyond the classroom around the world. Afghan universities invited Global Scholars to provide leadership training for the nation’s top university leadership, providing us the opportunity to share with them Jesus’s message of servant leadership. The Nigerian government asked our professors to develop an AIDS awareness program for students in public elementary and secondary schools. Our professors trained teachers to teach biblical values to hundreds of thousands of children using this program. A Global Scholar in Central Asia was asked to serve on a presidential commission, to help improve and “humanize” criminal law procedures in that country. He introduced a biblical view of law and justice to a nation closed to the gospel.

God is "able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine..." (Ephesians 3:20)

Universities need more Christian professors like those mentioned above, being “salt and light” on more and more campuses worldwide. Global Scholars is committed to equipping Christian professors for this task.

After a season of prayer and seeking counsel from dozens of friends and partners, we believe God has given us clear goals and objectives to accomplish over the next three years. By God’s grace, we believe this will result in many more Christian professors being better equipped to be Christ’s ambassadors on campus.
