John received his BS in Life Sciences from Missouri School of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri. His MD was completed at the University of Missouri-Columbia, as was his internship and residency in Family Medicine.
John entered private medical practice in Aurora, Colorado in 1990. He remained in the same medical practice until his retirement in 2022. He served as president of the corporation for over a decade. During his career, John served as the hospital’s Family Medicine Department Chair and on the boards of several medical organizations. He also served overseas in short-term medical missions in Honduras, Ethiopia, and Uganda.
John and his wife have three adult children and two grandchildren.
John has served on the board of Life Enrichment, as a medical consultant for Quiet Waters, and in the leadership of his local church. He also served on the board of Christian Scholars Foundation, acting as the Board Chair for 12 years.
