Society of Christian Scholars:
Equipping Professors for Lasting Gospel Influence

In 2019, we moved our vision forward with the launch of a new initiative: The Society of Christian Scholars. We transitioned from being a sending agency to a ministry equipping Christian professors who are already in positions of influence in their own nations.

An estimated 5% of professors worldwide are Christians. God has placed them in positions of influence, often in countries with little access to the gospel. Yet most are not equipped to influence their students for Christ.

If just a fraction of these 750,000 Christian professors are equipped to share God’s love and truth, the results will be far-reaching.

Through the Society of Christian Scholars, Global Scholars provides 14 key services to help Christian professors find community and be effective witnesses for the gospel in their academic work. These include regional representatives, mentoring, local communities, webinars, editorial services, grants, and more. Through these services, the Society of Christian Scholars connects Christian professors to one another, equips them to be missional, and resources them to thrive academically and spiritually.

Until this summer, I did not feel able to say openly that I follow the Christian faith. In a meeting with Christian scholars in the Middle East, Society of Christian Scholars leaders encouraged us to express…that we are Christians. This motivated me. Now, as I teach about world religions, I explain very clearly that I follow the Christian faith.
